An expected hiatus

I.e., what you were probably expecting if you followed this blog or my dreamwidth blog at all. I’m taking a step back from fannish writing for the time being, and will post here again if I decide to jump in again.

Everything that’s up right now will stay up, and while I won’t be writing new stories, I may find the time to transplant all of my old ones to the Archive of Our Own for people’s easy ebook-downloading purposes. I do so love being able to do that with other authors’ stories, and kind of hope I’ll be able to get off my ass and upload my old stuff so that will be possible.

Finally got round to running the file for this through all the requisite ebook validation services. Two hours and some swearing later (Ibis Reader is choking on chapter 1 for reasons I cannot yet determine), the ebook is ready, and available for download here:

This version of the book is only a step above the AO3 auto-converted version, with the main included amenities being slightly cleaner structure (no summaries and whatnot in each chapter) and endnotes. Feel free to convert to any format you like, and let me know if there are any errors. Enjoy

Final chapter is up at AO3 and at FF.net, much sooner than I thought it would be. I really, really, REALLY hope you all like it, and hope the sequel will be at least as satisfying to write.

I’m probably going to spend an hour or two putting together a special ePub file for the story– note that you can download an automatically generated version of the complete story in that and a variety of other formats at AO3. But I do want something special and just-so for this story, now that it’s done.

It looks like I’ll be rewriting that epilogue yet again. After I finished the most recent rewrite, I realized what I’d been trying to get across, and now have a better plan for expanding it further. No promises on when it’ll be done, though I hope that will be soon, if only so I can move forward on the sequel.

Just an FYI– I’m going to be moving web hosts shortly, most likely over this weekend. This site will disappear for a little bit, but should be good to go as soon as January rolls around. PMs on Dreamwidth or Livejournal will reach me if you have an urgent question or concern.

Edit: Move done, and all is back to normal. Let me know if you have any trouble getting emails to me or whatnot.

Well, got that epilogue to my beta, and they liked it, but. I had an idea for revising it, and I think I’m going to go through with it, so that things end properly. Not sure how long that will take, but since I’m only thinking about 1000 words will do it, I hope I’ll be able to finish it by New Year’s.

I really don’t know how to say this, so I’ll just say it. I think I’m done with Witch and Princess– really done, as in, I think I finished it. The last chapter was somewhat started a couple weeks ago, but I didn’t work on it much at all over Christmas. Then, a few days ago, I found myself writing out a short little epilogue, and very much liking it.

I thought I was taking a Christmas break of sorts, on the story. I keep rereading the epilogue, and still liking it, so I think I’ll let it stand, and not worry about feeling guilty over finishing it sooner than expected. Once I have my beta look over it, I’ll post it up and update you on it here. I may or may not end up consolidating the whole thing into an ebook, for future convenience, and I know I’m strongly considering reposting it all here. I keep going back and forth about whether or not to post it here, since that will make me feel like I ought to post *everything* here, and that will take ages.

Ah well. What’s done is done, and it will be done then too, if I decide to repost it.

ETA: Apparently the new chapter is not showing up at AO3 right now– possibly a Yuletide-related bug, given the time of year. I did post the chapter; it’s just not showing up at the moment for reasons unknown. That said, FF.net has said chapter, so you should be all set unless you hate FF.net with the fire of a thousand suns.

More progress

Well. Last post here was a while ago, and for good reason: so many revisions, so many changes of mind, so much rewriting, seriously. And in the end I have this draft that’s just under 4700 words, but has an honest-to-god sort-of-end, which is more than I’ve had on hand for ages. I’m going to have it read by my beta as soon as I can, and just hope for the best as far as rewrites/edits go.

No promises on when it’ll be done, and certainly no ETA– I don’t want to predict and be wrong again, you know? But rest assured that I am still working on this here.
